Richmond ISA Meeting March 16th, 2010
       [look below for location information]

	Industrial Wireless

   Presentation Overview:
Wireless transmission of digital , analog, and pulse signals is now a safe, reliable, secure, and cost effective alternative
to hard wired solutions, or in many cases, you have workers driving to the various locations on the factory property for
visual verification of the data.  At $40/ft. for conduit and cable installation costs, a wireless solution can save over 90%
on typical instrumentation installations. Basic components consist of transmitters, receivers, transceivers, and other
miscellaneous accessories such as antennas, power supplies, and surge suppressors.  With a line of sight range of twenty
miles and 3000 ft range within a facility, this technology will work in most all applications. Manufacturers also now offer
a complete solution of wireless modems and I/O gateways within their product lines. Industrial modems provide wireless
access to information housed in data loggers and PLCs within plants so one can keep abreast of vital component parameters.
I/O gateways provide a comprehensive line of radios which interface with the varied fieldbus protocols you currently have
in the field. One will now be able to provide instrumentation signals using the most common protocols for PLC, DCS, and
SCADA. Live demonstrations will be provided during the presentation.
